Parent FAQs

What are your child nursery fees?

There is no set price, all our child care needs are tailored to you and your child.

Please call our admissions team on 02045010894 or email admissions@luckybeanschildcare.co.uk to receive our fees sheet for your chosen nursery or preschool and to arrange a tour.

Do you accept the government’s funded hours support?

Yes we do, we help parents access the 15 hours of support for 3 and 4 year-olds (or 30 hours of support if you qualify). The reduction this will make in your fees is illustrated on the fees sheet which our admissions team will send you.

What are the ratios of staff to children in the nurseries?

We adhere to the industry standard of 1 staff member to 3 children for 0-2 year-olds, 1 staff member to 4 children for 2-3 year-olds and 1 staff member to 8 children for 3-5 year-olds while in the nursery.

As we are a nursery company with a forest school ethos we spend a lot of time outdoors and when we are outdoors we have a higher ratio of staff to children than these ratios, to enable the children to explore and learn while being properly and safely supervised.

What sort of food do you serve? Can you work with my child’s allergies?

We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus two snacks in the morning & afternoon that are provided by our in-house chefs. Our delicious and healthy meals will fuel your little one's mind and body. Of course, we believe in balance, too! We also include a few yummy treats in our menu, because some foods are good for the soul.

All our chefs and relevant staff are trained in food hygiene holding a minimum of a Level 2 Certificate. We are understanding & accommodating to all dietary requirements, just let us know!

If your child is weaning, don’t worry, we have weaned many children successfully.

What is the typical daily routine at our Tooting Bec child nurseries?

The exact things that we do will vary from day to day and month to month, both to keep the children interested and to best progress the children towards their learning goals.

However, in broad strokes, a day will progress like this:

  • 7:30 - 9:00 - drop-offs and breakfast

  • Free play, including sensory activities

  • Snack

  • Outdoor activities/forest school

  • Lunch from 11:45 - 12:30

  • Nap time for younger children/free play for older ones

  • Snack

  • Structured activities, often classes in music, Spanish, tennis, football or ballet provided by our outside educators

  • Supper

  • Free play

  • Pick up 5:30 - 6:30

How do you integrate EYFS and Forest School?

Our child care team fully embrace the EYFS and Forest School by providing a balanced nurturing and educational experience, encouraging plenty of outdoor learning and exploration. Separatley, we encourage the following learning:

EYFS:

EYFS is a play-based approach to child care, exploring and learning at their own pace.

  1. Communication and Language – Encouraging listening, attention, and verbal expression through stories, discussions, and interactive play.

  2. Physical Development – Enhancing gross and fine motor skills through activities like climbing, balancing, and using tools safely.

  3. Personal, Social, and Emotional Development – Building confidence, social skills, and independence through group play and nature-based teamwork.

  4. Literacy – Developing early reading and writing skills using phonics, storytelling, and natural materials for mark-making.

  5. Mathematics – Introducing counting, shapes, and problem-solving using real-world experiences like measuring sticks or counting leaves.

  6. Understanding the World – Exploring different cultures, environments, and natural cycles through hands-on outdoor learning.

  7. Expressive Arts and Design – Encouraging creativity through music, role play, and natural craft activities using elements like mud, leaves, and clay.

Forest School:

The integration of Forest School adds regular outdoor learning experiences.

  1. Develop problem-solving and risk assessment skills in a safe, supervised environment.

  2. Enhance their creativity and imagination through natural play.

  3. Build resilience and independence by facing and overcoming small challenges.

  4. Improve physical health through active movement and fresh air.

  5. Learn about sustainability and environmental responsibility.

By blending the EYFS curriculum with Forest School principles, we create a well-rounded, hands-on learning experience that fosters curiosity, independence, and a love for nature.
